Marc Anthony " Muevense " Album review and Ranking * Spoilers* Its Great!

As a musical connoisseur, I am always looking for the latest and greatest in my favorite pastimes. Those who know me know that Marc Anthony holds a special place in my heart. So naturally when he released a new album I HAD to listen to it. With Incredible songs in his repertoire such as " Vieja mesa", "If I Had the Opportunity ", "Juego o Amor", Da la Vuelta and many many more there was no doubt that this album would be equally incredible.

It's always fun to see artists dip their toes into a multitude of genres, I think the best thing in music is that you can always experiment and try new things, it's like painting but with sound.

The album kicks off with the foot-stomping title track MUEVENSE, it's in your face and quite literally tells you to move your butt!. In the album footnotes on Pandora, we are told Muevense is " One for the dancers, One for the people who want to get up on a Sunday and have fun while cleaning the house" I think that description fits the song perfectly and it's a wonderful start to a super fun album.

(Side note on the opening, it's cuerpo not the OTHER word it sounds like haha )

The next track is Punta Cana an easy-listening bachata tune that is sure to get your hips swaying, even if you can't bachata you definitely will learn once this song comes on. The intro sounds like you've just opened a music box and then immediately kicks into a cool beachy vibe that leaves you feeling like you're on an island somewhere in your own little world.

Next up is the song Si Te Enamoro which asks the all too familiar question " What if we fall in love" and asks the listener to consider the many possibilities should a romance form. This one starts out with a slower piano arrangement and then slowly slides into a more uptempo salsa beat.

The fourth song is Malos a melancholy tune that tells of a relationship so bad it's almost kinda good, we see a continuing theme of love, relationships, and questions with a multitude of potential answers as the album continues.

Coming in at number five we have the song Ojala Te duela. Ranchera music will always be special to me, A reminder of my childhood. Ranchera was always on somewhere in the background and reminds me of better and simpler times in my life. While this song may wish the subject an awful time for being a heartbreaker, I can't help but smile when I hear it.

The sixth track on the album is the very jazzy  En La Distancia which starting out sounds a bit like bossa nova before blending into the unique salsa blend we've all come to know and love. This song tells of a love lost that is now miles and miles away but still permeates in the mind, the song is somber but fun and gives off a warm feeling.

For the seventh listing experience, we have the song  Ale Ale a track that celebrates heritage , culture, and being proud of where you come from. A bit like Vivir mi vida but while that song celebrates life in general this one focuses on individual country and cultural pride. This song is an interesting listen for me as someone who grew up kind of socially isolated, I feel you gain a connection to culture and heritage by interacting with and actively engaging with those around you, while I may have missed out on a lot of that nonetheless I can feel the power in the song and it's a universal feeling of joy.

Next at number eight, we have a bit of Marco Antonio inception with the Marco Antonio Solis cover A Donde Vamos A parar . This song has one of my favorite kinds of musical arrangements and I cant wait for a rainy day so I can walk dramatically and pretend I'm in a sad music video while listening to it.

Nearing the end of the album we get to the song Pasemos A Los Besos more or less asking to cut the chit-chat and get to the kisses, definitely, a message I can get behind ( I've never been kissed yet). This song is sweet and to the point but also danceable and bubbly, it's very nice and I love it.

Closing out the album we have a song quickly becoming one of my favorites, Amarte A La Antigua . A lovely cover tune that's surely to pop up at weddings with a wonderful eight-second note hold near the end, this song is like musical candy just the right amount of sweetness and happiness put into it.

Here are my Track rankings

1. Amarte A La Antingua
2. Punta Cana
3. Ojala Te Duela
4.Donde Vamos a Parar
5.Pasamos a Los Besos
6.Muevense

An Open Letter to Rubén Blades: Why Am I In It? Note: Please read the linked Rubén Blades article for reference before proceeding with this post!  https://www.rubenblades.com/la-esquina/baja-california-mxico-january-21st-2016 If you have followed my work—whether on YouTube or other platforms—you know I typically avoid topics deeper than the surface level. I prefer to focus on my love of music, art, and mixed-media creation. This is not due to a lack of concern for the issues of the world, but rather a nuanced antipathy with how the internet transforms civil discourse into vitriol. To avoid adding to said negativity, I have largely remained in a "neutral positivity zone." Today, however, I am stepping out of that zone to address Mr. Rubén Blades and his commentary on the 2016 Oscars controversy . I am not particularly a fan of the Academy Awards; I find that actors are often rewarded for their worst work while their best performances are ignored. (Al Pacino winning for Scent ...

Go West : Indian Summer ' 1992 Album Review.

" This album and I, we go way back. In my tenure as a cashier, it seemed no matter what store I worked in, whether it was Frys, Safeway, Nordstrom, or Starbucks, there was always a Go West song on somewhere in the background. " - Anne While I have my thoughts about the querstionable ( yes querstionable not Questionable) album title, I cant deny that this is a banger of an album. It's rare to find an album with practically zero skips and this one definitely tops the list of those that do. I can't believe it took me so long to finally listen to the album in its entirety. This album is powerful and kicks it into high gear IMMEDIATELY upon opening. A nostalgic trip to an era long gone that just feels like home, it's so comfortable and warm. Opening up the album is the incredible Faithful which I'm sure I heard more than 100 times working in grocery. Nonetheless, this song makes me want to get up and dance. Faithful is an absolute JAM that is full of energy and s...
